Course Description:

SBE Chapter 16 will be hosting a weekly Educational Webinar covering the RF101 Series. This is an introduction of RF fundamentals needed to successfully monitor a broadcast facility. The course is targeted to those with minimal or no background in RF and/or are relatively new to the field. It will also serve as a refresher for more seasoned engineers. Many come to the field of broadcasting from varied backgrounds such as IT, electronic technicians or military vets, and find themselves immersed in the complexity of a broadcast facility needing to understand and work with the RF end of the system. This multi-module course will present an overview of RF needed to understand the basics and make informed decisions. 

Learning Objectives:

This is a pilot course that will consist of 1 hour 15 minutes of webinars and 30 minutes of discussion with a panel of local Broadcast Engineers. The success of this course will determine if we will continue to host Educational Meetings to progress the education of the chapter. At the end of this course a poll with be released with votes for the next Webinar hosting. Volunteers for the Host Panel should contact Ryan Phillips at  <mailto:vicechair at sbe16.org> vicechair at sbe16.org or another board member. Completing the full course will result in 8 re-certification credits.

Cost:

Students, SBE Membership Plus   = FREE
Standard SBE Members                  = $90 (includes upgrade to Membership Plus!)
Non-SBE Members                          = $175 (Includes Membership with upgrade to Membership Plus!)

Hi John,

 

A couple weeks ago we discussed Chapter 16 hosting some educational seminars here at KIRO 7 studios. I've got a few details ironed out with the chapter board.

 

We plan on starting with RF 101. Every week we will have a 2 hour meeting where the webinar will be screened. Afterward we will have different chapter members acting as a panel to discuss the subject matter. 

 

Student and MemberPlus memberships will be able to attend for free. Regular members we priced at $90 (for the price to upgrade to member plus). Non members cost $175 (for cost of membership plus). 

 

There is no profit built in for chapter 16, but maybe we will gain some new members. This is the first educational block I'll host and if it is a success, we will try to build in some profits to help get our balances back up in the spring.

 

I'm hoping to organize and market this to the chapter for a start date of either October 15th or 22nd, so the course will be finished by December 4th.
