the proposed slate of officers and directors will be sent to all chapter
chairs not less than 60 days prior to the election date (August 15), with a
request for additional nominations. All candidates for officer or director,
whether proposed by the Nominations Committee or nominated by a voting
member, shall meet the candidacy requirements no later than 45 days prior
to the election date.

To be eligible, the individual must be a member in good standing and hold
an SBE engineering-level certification throughout the election and elected
term. Any voting member in good standing, by letter to the SBE secretary,
not less than 45 days prior to the election date, may propose and nominate
a candidate, and the name of any eligible candidate so proposed by ten
members or more shall be entered on the ballot.

Didn't Renew Your SBE Dues? You're in the Grace Period

Annual membership renewal for Member, Associate, Senior, Student and most
Fellow members of the SBE were due on April 1. Renewal letters and
membership cards were mailed to all members in January. A reminder to those
who have not renewed is in the mail now. Not sure if you already renewed?
Look yourself up in the member directory at sbe.org (Membership tab > SBE
Member Search). If your membership expiration says April 1, 2023, it's time
to renew.

If you held SBE MemberPlus and haven't renewed for the coming year, your
MemberPlus benefits have been suspended. Membership dues for the SBE
MemberPlus option remains at $175 and includes all the benefits of
traditional membership, plus access to all archived SBE webinars and any
new webinars the SBE presents during the membership year (through March 31,
2024), at no extra charge. That's more than 90 technical broadcast and

SBE Holds Monthly Chapter Chairs Meeting
In May 2022, the SBE started a monthly online meeting for SBE chapter
chairs to gather and share ideas. Held the first Monday of each month at 4
p.m. ET/1 p.m. PT, the meeting is hosted by SBE Executive Director Jim
Ragsdale. It's often an open forum discussion, but there could be a
specific topic presented. All chapter chairs or a chapter designate are

SBE Conducts Eighth Compensation Survey

conducted its first survey in 2016. This eighth survey continues to help us
establish a baseline for subsequent surveys and build compensation trends.

The complete results of the survey will be available at no charge to SBE
members as a benefit of membership. A link to the survey is posted on the
SBE website.

The survey includes questions about job titles, broadcast market size and
compensation in dollars and offered benefits. SBE membership is not
required to take the survey.

While all responses remain anonymous, demographic data collected will
include market size, job category/title, age, years working in
broadcasting, salary, benefits received, and any certification held. The
data will be split into radio or TV results, with details on job category
and market size.

Select Your SBE Chapter Engineer of the Year for 2023
Each year, all SBE chapters are encouraged to award an SBE Chapter Engineer
of the Year award to a deserving member in their chapter. The award
recognizes the efforts of an individual who best furthers the goals and
objectives of your SBE chapter and the broadcast industry, and provides an
outstanding example of leadership and ethics on the local level.

Each chapter nominates, selects and presents the award to one SBE member in
good standing from among the SBE members in their chapter. Winners are
chosen by the end of May each year. Chapter honorees are entered into
consideration for the national Robert W. Flanders SBE Engineer of the Year
award. The national SBE supports chapters by providing a free plaque for
you to present to your winner. The national SBE will also publish a photo
of the presentation you make to your recipient in an issue of The Signal.
Present the award in August or September and take a photo of the winner
receiving the plaque. Send the photo to the national office for publication
in The Signal. In 2022, six chapters each named their own Chapter Engineer
of the Year.

Once you have made your selection, notify Megan Clappe at the national

Update Your Chapter's Information With the National Office
A reminder to update the SBE National Office with the names and contact
information of your chapter's current officers, their website addresses and
the chapter's regular meeting pattern (2nd Tuesday at noon, 3rd Thursday,
evening, etc.). A good time to do this is just after your chapter's annual
