How To Avoid A Ransomware Attack: Hire A Hacker

By Adam Jacobson -

September 12, 2019

"A lot of companies think they have implemented good security processes, but
ultimately, without a 'rubber meets the road' test of your cybersecurity,
you don't know what flaws in the details will lead to a breach," says Wesley
McGrew, the Starkville, Miss.-based Director of Cyber Operations for HORNE
Cyber.

It is McGrew's job to lead "network penetration testing" and
offense-oriented work on behalf of his employer's clients. Or, simply put,
"I lead teams of hackers that break into clients' networks to make sure they
know where their vulnerabilities are."

With Entercom Communications reeling from what has yet to be officially
confirmed as a major ransomware attack with a reported $500,000 demand,
McGrew shares how media companies can best avoid the level of problems faced
by the radio broadcasting company.
