Hi Alex,
Working on my little LP project over here in Bremerton. I have had really
good luck with finding RE320s if you watch for $100-$150 on the used
market. The little Rhode pod mics are perfectly serviceable at $100 a pop
new. I agree with what John said about the 528e units, the set we had in
Portland had all sorts of switch and pot problems after they sat for a
while (if you adjusted them). The original 528s had better components as I
remember but its been a long time. I cant speak to the current
generation DBX stuff but the older stuff sounded fine as did the old
behringer (non tube) mic procs.

Feel free to reach out directly. I'm going to start experimenting with
using the behringer MDX1400/1600/4600 in insert mode for processing with a
basic mic pre to see if that is usable as a way to save a few bucks for a
conf room and happy to share results and if it works goes a long way in the
bang for buck column.
