Hey Folks,

I am contacting you pursuant to Special Condition #14 on the attached Experimental License WF2XQA. (This is a standard 2-year renewal with no modifications since the last license grant.)

This license is utilized to test various Boeing aircraft models in order to ensure regulatory compliance with CFR 14 Part 25.1317 as well as FAA standards & requirements IAW FAA AC 20-158A? The Boeing Everett facility is one of multiple locations throughout the continental United States where The Boeing Company is licensed to perform this required testing.

In order to reduce the impact to other spectrum users, Boeing continues to invest and refine this test procedure. The current test process includes specialized equipment designed by Boeing engineers to decrease the dwell time on any single frequency.

A typical test from 30MHz ~ 18GHz includes two sweeps, each taking approximately 1-minute to complete. Therefore transmitting on the same frequency will only happen twice within a 2-minute timeframe. As the equipment sweeps through the approved frequency bands the dwell time is only 10µs on any single frequency. After completion of the two sweeps, the equipment is relocated which takes approximately 15-minutes at which time the test is repeated.

The test described above is generally performed a couple times throughout the year however there is nothing scheduled for the Everett location at this time.

Because of the low transmitting power levels and no signal modulation we do not anticipate that our operations pose any risk to existing licensees.  Nevertheless, if you desire additional coordination on future testing please contact me within 14 days of receipt of this email, otherwise no further action is required.
